Sinn Féin gained 14 seats and the Green Party gained 10, whil Fine Gael lost 14 seats. The lower section of the graphic lists the number of seats won by each party in both elections and the change in number.
Note: The Ceann Comhairle of the 32nd Dáil, Seán Ó Fearghaíl,a Fianna Fáil TD for the Kildare South constituency since 2002, was automatically returned.
The Dáil sat for the first time on February 20th 2020. A Government was not formed and therefore the existing Ministers will continue in their roles for the time being.
Seán Ó Fearghaíl TD was re-elected to the position of Ceann Comhairle. He defeated Roscommon-Galway TD Denis Naughton. Deputy Naughton was subsequently appointed Leas-Cheann Comhairle on a temporary basis until an election can take place.
The other TDs elected in Roscommon-Galway constituency were Michael Fitzmaurice (Independent), and Claire Kerrane (Sinn Féin). Click here to see how the Roscommon-Galway Election went. Boyle native Frankie Feighan was elected in the Sligo-Leitrim constituency, which also includes a large part of north Roscommon.
